    About Thailand

The Land of Smiles—where ornate temples, pristine beaches, vibrant nightlife, and legendary hospitality create Asia's most welcoming destination.

Thailand, the undeniable champion of Southeast Asia's tourism industry, grants Indians visa-free access to experience the nightlife of Bangkok, the luxurious resorts of Phuket, and the beautiful beaches of Krabi. Never Colonized Kingdom

Thailand's greatest historical achievement: remaining independent while neighbors fell to colonial powers. Visionary kings navigated between British (Burma, Malaya) and French (Indochina) spheres, maintaining Thai sovereignty. This independence defines Thai national identity and pride—celebrated annually on National Day (December 5).

    Theravada Buddhist Heart

Buddhism permeates every aspect of Thai life. 95% of the population practices Theravada Buddhism; monks are deeply respected social figures. Thousands of temples (wats) dot the landscape. Buddhist philosophy of acceptance, respect, and karma shapes Thai values and the legendary 'Land of Smiles' hospitality.

    Royal Reverence & Chakri Dynasty

Thailand's monarchy, the world's longest-reigning, is revered with profound respect. The King's image is sacred; disrespect is illegal (lèse-majesté laws). The royal family's dedication to national development, cultural preservation, and Buddhist values makes them central to Thai identity and stability.

From Ayutthaya Splendor to Bangkok Modernity

Thailand's architectural heritage spans centuries: ruins of Ayutthaya (UNESCO World Heritage), ornate Bangkok temples (Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew), colonial-era buildings, and cutting-edge modern structures (King Power Mahanakhon, MahaNakhon). Bangkok epitomizes the blend of tradition and ultra-modernity.

    Must-Experience Attractions

Chiang Mai Temples & Doi Suthep Mountain
Phi Phi Islands & Maya Bay

    Thailand Tour Packages from India

A Thailand tour package from India costs roughly ₹28,000 to ₹45,000 per person for a 5–6 night land-only trip, or ₹75,000 to ₹90,000 per person once return flights are bundled in. Most Indian travellers pick one of three routes: Bangkok–Pattaya–Coral Island for a first visit, Phuket–Krabi–Phi Phi for a honeymoon, or a Bangkok–Chiang Mai–islands circuit for a longer holiday.

Indians travel to Thailand visa-free. Flights from most Indian metros take four hours or less, and a well-planned week costs less than most domestic luxury trips. Bayard Vacations builds all three routes as customised packages from Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Kochi — hotels, transfers, sightseeing and activity tickets handled end to end.

Do Indians need a visa for Thailand in 2026?

No. Indian passport holders currently enter Thailand without a visa for tourism — no fee, no embassy visit, no application before you fly. What you must do is complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within 72 hours of departure. Airlines deny boarding without it, and this is what actually catches Indian travellers out.

A change is approved but not yet in force. Thailand's Cabinet approved a restructured entry framework in May 2026 and finalised the country lists in July 2026. Under it, India moves from the current 60-day exemption to a 30-day visa exemption — still visa-free, still free of charge. The new rules take effect 15 days after publication in Thailand's Royal Gazette, which had not happened at the time of writing.

What this means for your holiday: nothing. Every itinerary on this page runs 5 to 10 nights. Whether the stamp in your passport says 60 days or 30, you are comfortably inside it. The change affects long-stay visitors and repeat border-run travellers, not package tourists.

One correction, because it is circulating widely. An earlier May 2026 draft briefly placed India in the Visa on Arrival category at THB 2,000. The July review moved India back into the 30-day visa-exemption tier, citing India's trade importance and the roughly seven-day average stay of Indian visitors. Several travel sites still carry the outdated Visa-on-Arrival version — if you have read that elsewhere, it is out of date.

    What you need to carry

    • Passport valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival

    • Confirmed return or onward air ticket

    • Hotel booking confirmation for your stay

    • Thailand Digital Arrival Card, completed online within 72 hours before departure

    • Proof of sufficient funds — immigration officers can ask, though they rarely do on package itineraries

About the Thailand Digital Arrival Card

The TDAC is free and replaced the old paper arrival card. You fill it in online, one form per traveller including children, within 72 hours of your flight. You will need your passport details, flight number and Thailand accommodation address. Keep the confirmation on your phone - the airline checks it at the gate and immigration may ask for it again on arrival.

Bayard sends every traveller the TDAC link, the accommodation details you will need, and a reminder timed to the 72-hour window. It takes about five minutes, and it is the single most common reason Indian travellers get turned away at boarding.

Entry rules can change on short notice once the Gazette publishes. Bayard confirms the current entry position for every booking before ticketing, and re-confirms in the week you fly.

Thailand tour package cost from India

A 5–6 night Thailand package costs ₹28,000 to ₹45,000 per person land-only, and ₹75,000 to ₹90,000 per person with return flights included. Where you land in that range depends on hotel category, season, and how many paid activities you add.

Most Thailand pages give you one vague band and leave you guessing. Here is what you are actually paying for, per person, on a typical 5–6 night trip:

    Popular Thailand itineraries

Three routes cover almost every Thailand booking we handle. Each can be shortened, extended or recombined — these are starting points, not fixed departures.

    Bangkok–Pattaya–Coral Island — 5 Nights / 6 Days

From ₹28,000 per person (land only) · Best for first-time visitors and families

The most-booked Thailand format for Indian travellers, and the right choice if this is your first international trip. It mixes a city, a beach and a set of easy day trips without a single internal flight.

    • Day 1 — Arrive Bangkok, road transfer to Pattaya (about 2 hours), evening Alcazar Cabaret Show

    • Day 2 — Coral Island by speedboat: snorkelling, parasailing, beach time

    • Day 3 — Nong Nooch Tropical Garden: landscaped gardens, Thai cultural show, elephant sanctuary

    • Day 4 — Transfer to Bangkok, temple circuit: Golden Buddha, Wat Benchamabophit, Grand Palace, Wat Arun. Optional Chao Phraya dinner cruise

    • Day 5 — Safari World and Marine Park, or a free day for Chatuchak and MBK shopping

    • Day 6 — Departure from Bangkok

Why this one works: no domestic flights, short transfers, and a mix of temple, beach and show that suits mixed-age groups. If you are travelling with parents or young children, start here.

    Customize this itinerary →

    Phuket–Krabi–Phi Phi — 6 Nights / 7 Days

From ₹35,000 per person (land only) · Best for honeymooners and couples

The southern island route, built around beaches and boats rather than temples and traffic. This is Bayard's most-requested honeymoon package.

    • Phuket — Patong, Kata and Karon beaches, Old Town, sunset at Promthep Cape, and a base for day trips

    • Phi Phi Islands — Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Bamboo Island, and snorkelling in some of the clearest water in Southeast Asia

    • Krabi — Railay Beach and its limestone cliffs, the Four Islands tour, Ao Nang for the evenings

    • Phang Nga Bay — sea-canoeing through limestone caves and James Bond Island, usually as a Phuket day trip

Honeymoon add-ons we arrange: beachfront pool villas, private longtail charters to Phi Phi, candlelit beach dinners, and a private Phang Nga Bay sunset cruise.

Worth knowing: Phuket to Krabi is a 2-hour road transfer or a ferry — no domestic flight needed. Phi Phi works as a day trip from either, or as an overnight if you want the islands after the day-trippers leave.

    Plan a Thailand honeymoon →

    Bangkok–Chiang Mai–Islands — 8 to 10 Days

From ₹60,000 per person (land only) · Best for repeat visitors and slower holidays

The full-country circuit: the capital, the northern culture most Indian itineraries skip entirely, and a southern beach finish.

    • Bangkok, 2–3 nights — temples, Chatuchak, floating markets, Chao Phraya dinner cruise

    • Chiang Mai, 2–3 nights — Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the Sunday Walking Street, ethical elephant sanctuaries, Doi Inthanon

    • Southern islands, 3–4 nights — Phuket, Krabi or Koh Samui for the beach finish

Why more Indians should consider this: Chiang Mai is genuinely different from the rest of the country — cooler, slower, mountainous, and with food that has more in common with Burmese cooking than with Bangkok's. Almost no Indian package includes it, which is precisely why it is worth including.

Note on internal travel: Bangkok–Chiang Mai is a 1h 15m domestic flight, and Chiang Mai to the southern islands is another. Budget for two domestic sectors on this route.

    Thailand packages from your city

Thailand is one of the easiest international destinations to reach from India. Kolkata is under three hours; every major metro is under five. We handle departures from all of the cities below and build the package around the flight that actually works for you, rather than around a fixed departure.

    Thailand packages from Bangalore

Bengaluru is roughly 4 hours nonstop to Bangkok, with several daily departures across carriers. It is Bayard's home base and where most of our Thailand groups depart from, which means we know which flight timings work with a Pattaya road transfer and which leave you arriving at a hotel at 2am. Some carriers also run seasonal nonstop service from Bengaluru to Phuket, which removes a Bangkok connection entirely from an island itinerary.

If you are travelling from Mysore, Mangalore, Hubli or elsewhere in Karnataka, Bengaluru is your departure airport and we will build the package around it.

    Thailand packages from Chennai

About 3 hours 30 minutes nonstop to Bangkok, and one of the cheapest India–Thailand sectors. Chennai works particularly well for the southern island route, since fares are low enough that the saving can go towards a better Phuket hotel. Travellers from Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy generally connect through Chennai.

    Thailand packages from Hyderabad

About 3 hours 45 minutes nonstop. A short, well-timed sector with good morning departures, which means you can be at a Pattaya hotel by afternoon rather than losing a day to travel — worth knowing if you are only taking five nights.

    Thailand packages from Delhi

About 4 hours 20 minutes nonstop, with the widest choice of carriers and timings of any Indian city. Delhi's late-evening departures land in Bangkok early morning, which effectively gives you an extra day on a short itinerary.

    Thailand packages from Mumbai

About 4 hours 20 minutes nonstop to Bangkok, with seasonal Phuket service on some carriers. Mumbai and Delhi are the priciest sectors in peak December–January, so book earlier from these cities than you would from Chennai or Kolkata.

    Thailand packages from Kolkata

At roughly 2 hours 35 minutes, Kolkata is the shortest India–Thailand sector and consistently among the lowest fares. If you are flexible on departure city, a Kolkata routing can meaningfully reduce the flight component of your total cost.

    Thailand packages from Kochi

Usually one-stop via Bangkok or Colombo; nonstop service is seasonal and not guaranteed. We check live schedules for your dates rather than assuming a connection.

    Who Thailand suits best

    Thailand for honeymoons

Phuket–Krabi–Phi Phi over 6–7 nights is the honeymoon route. Expect ₹80,000 to ₹1,00,000 per person for a premium package with a beachfront or pool-villa property, private transfers and curated experiences — a private longtail to Phi Phi, a Phang Nga Bay sunset cruise, a candlelit beach dinner. Koh Samui is the quieter alternative if you want one resort and no moving around. Book 10–12 weeks ahead for December–January.

    Thailand for families

Bangkok–Pattaya–Coral Island is the family format: short road transfers, no domestic flights, and a mix of beach, wildlife and shows that works across ages. Safari World, Nong Nooch and Coral Island all suit mixed groups, Indian and vegetarian food is easy to find in both cities, and hotels are used to extra beds and connecting rooms. April–May lines up with Indian school holidays.

    Thailand for groups and friends

Thailand handles groups better than almost any destination in the region — per-person costs drop on private transfers and boat charters, and Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket all have hotels that can hold twenty rooms without splitting you across properties. We handle friend groups, corporate offsites and extended-family departures.

    Thailand for first-time international travellers

If this is your first trip abroad, Thailand is the easiest one to start with. No visa to apply for, a short flight, English signage and English-speaking staff everywhere tourists go, familiar food available when you want it, and a tourism industry built around exactly this. The Bangkok–Pattaya route in particular is designed so that nothing goes wrong.

Best time to visit Thailand from India

November to February is the best time for most Indian travellers — dry, comfortable, and the only window where island boat transfers run reliably every day.

    Months

    What it's like

    Good for

    November – February

Cool and dry. Peak season, peak prices, best conditions

Beaches, island-hopping, city sightseeing, honeymoons. Book 8–10 weeks ahead for Christmas and New Year

    March – May

Hot and humid, sometimes over 35°C. Fewer crowds, softer rates

Budget travellers, indoor Bangkok attractions, Songkran in mid-April. Also the Indian school-holiday window, so family departures peak here despite the heat

    June – October

Southwest monsoon. Rain in bursts rather than all day; some island boats suspended in rough weather

Lowest prices, greenest landscapes, easiest hotel availability. Build in a buffer day if your plan depends on a ferry

A practical note most pages leave out: the monsoon does not hit Thailand's two coasts at the same time. The Andaman side (Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi) is wettest from May to October. The Gulf side (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) gets its heaviest rain in October and November. If you are travelling in shoulder season, choosing the right coast matters more than choosing the right month — and it is the main reason a June Thailand trip can still work perfectly well.

    Where to go in Thailand

    Bangkok — the entry point

Almost every Thailand trip starts here. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho's reclining Buddha, and Wat Arun across the river are the essential three. Beyond the temples: Chatuchak Weekend Market's fifteen thousand stalls, the floating markets at Damnoen Saduak and Amphawa, and a Chao Phraya dinner cruise. Best for first-timers, families and anyone who shops.

Pattaya and Coral Island — beaches and shows

Two hours from Bangkok by road, which is why it appears in almost every short package. Coral Island for snorkelling and water sports, the Alcazar Cabaret for the show, Nong Nooch for gardens and elephants, and Walking Street if that is your evening. Best for families and groups who want beach and entertainment without a domestic flight.

Phuket, Krabi and Phi Phi — the islands

Thailand's southern coast is why people come back. Phuket has the resorts and the nightlife; Krabi has Railay's limestone cliffs and better beaches; Phi Phi has the water everyone has seen photographs of. Maya Bay, Phang Nga Bay's James Bond Island, and some of the best shallow-water snorkelling in the region. Best for couples, honeymooners and divers.

    Chiang Mai — the north

The part of Thailand most Indian itineraries skip, and the part that surprises people most. Cooler mountain air, three hundred-odd temples inside the old city walls, Doi Suthep on the hillside above town, ethical elephant sanctuaries, jungle trekking, and a night bazaar genuinely worth the evening. Best for repeat visitors and anyone who found Bangkok too loud.

Koh Samui — the Gulf alternative

A different rhythm from the Andaman islands: calmer, more resort-led, and with an opposite rain pattern, which makes it the right call in months when Phuket is wet. Best for honeymooners and slower holidays.

What's included in a Bayard Thailand package

    Included

    • Hotel stays in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi, Koh Samui or Chiang Mai as per your itinerary

    • Daily breakfast, with additional meals on selected packages

    • All airport and inter-city transfers, including ferry and speedboat legs

    • Sightseeing and entry tickets — temple circuits, Coral Island, Safari World, Phi Phi day trips, cabaret shows, dinner cruises

    • On-trip assistance and English-speaking local guides

    • Pre-departure support including TDAC guidance and entry-requirement confirmation

    Not included

    • International flights, unless you have asked us to bundle them

    • Optional paid activities — certified diving, private boat charters, spa treatments

    • Travel insurance (strongly recommended, and we can arrange it)

    • Personal expenses: shopping, tips, minibar, laundry

    • Any visa fee, should Thailand's entry rules change during your booking window

Thailand, Bali or Vietnam — which should you pick?

Almost every Indian traveller planning Thailand is also looking at Bali and Vietnam. Here is the honest comparison.

Pick Thailand if you want the widest range in one trip — city, culture, beaches and islands — with the best tourism infrastructure in the region and the most Indian-friendly food options. It is the easiest first international trip.

Pick Bali if you want one island, one hotel and a slower pace. Bali is a single destination; Thailand is a country you move around. Bali usually works out slightly more expensive per night for comparable resorts, but you spend less on internal travel.

Pick Vietnam if you want the lowest total cost and you do not mind more travelling. Vietnam is typically cheaper than Thailand on food, hotels and local transport, but the country is long and thin — a proper Vietnam trip involves two or three domestic flights where Thailand needs none.

On cost specifically: Thailand and Vietnam are close on land costs, with Vietnam usually slightly cheaper. Thailand generally wins on flight fares from India because there are far more nonstop options. For a 6-night trip from Bengaluru or Chennai, the all-in difference between the two is usually smaller than the gap between a 3-star and a 4-star hotel.

We plan all three. If you are torn, tell us your dates and budget and we will price the same trip length in each, so you are comparing like with like.

Compare Thailand, Bali and Vietnam for your dates →

    Practical things worth knowing

    Money and cards

The Thai Baht is the only currency worth carrying. Cards work in hotels, malls and larger restaurants, but street food stalls, island vendors, tuk-tuks and longtail boat operators are cash-only. Budget ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 per person in Baht for a 5–6 night trip and carry a forex card as backup. Exchange rates at Indian airports are poor; exchange in Thailand or use a forex card loaded before you travel.

    SIM cards and connectivity

Tourist SIM cards are sold at every Thai arrival hall and cost very little for a week of data. Buy one at the airport rather than relying on international roaming from your Indian carrier — it will be cheaper and faster. Wi-Fi is universal in hotels and common in cafés, but patchy on boats and smaller islands.

    Food, including vegetarian and Jain

Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket all have established Indian restaurants and reliable vegetarian options. It gets harder on smaller islands and in Chiang Mai's night markets, where fish sauce and shrimp paste appear in most dishes by default. If you need strictly vegetarian, Jain or no-onion-no-garlic food, tell us at the planning stage and we will build the itinerary around properties and restaurants that can deliver it rather than hoping you find something.

    Getting around

Bangkok's BTS Skytrain and MRT are fast and cheap, and better than a taxi in traffic. Grab works across Thai cities like it does in India. In Pattaya and on the islands, songthaews (shared pickup trucks) run fixed routes for a few Baht. Agree a tuk-tuk fare before you get in.

    What to pack

Light cottons, a rain layer if you are travelling June–October, reef-safe sunscreen, and something that covers shoulders and knees for temple visits — the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew enforce this strictly and you will be turned away otherwise. Slip-on shoes make temple days easier, since you remove them constantly.

Why book Thailand with Bayard Vacations

Thailand is a destination where the itinerary does most of the work. The difference between a good Thailand holiday and an exhausting one is usually hotel location, transfer timing, and whether someone thought about how long the Bangkok–Pattaya road actually takes on a Friday evening.

    • We plan around your flight, not around a fixed departure. You tell us your city and dates; we build the itinerary to fit.

    • Hotels chosen for location, not just star rating. A 4-star twenty minutes from Patong Beach is a worse holiday than a 3-star on it.

    • Every transfer accounted for — including the ferry legs and island boat timings that are easy to get wrong and expensive to fix on the ground.

    • Current entry requirements confirmed for every booking, before ticketing and again in the week you fly.

    • Dietary requirements planned for, not improvised — vegetarian, Jain and no-onion-no-garlic handled at the itinerary stage.

    • On-ground support throughout, with local guides and a contact you can actually reach.

    Thailand package FAQs

Do Indians need a visa for Thailand?

No. Indian passport holders currently enter Thailand visa-free for tourism, with no fee and no prior application. You must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours before departure, and carry a passport valid for at least six months, a return ticket and your hotel confirmation.

How much does a Thailand trip cost from India?

A 5–6 night Thailand package costs ₹28,000 to ₹45,000 per person land-only, or ₹75,000 to ₹90,000 per person with return flights. Honeymoon and premium itineraries with beachfront resorts and private transfers run ₹80,000 to ₹1,00,000 and above per person.

What is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card?

The TDAC is a free online form every traveller must complete within 72 hours before flying to Thailand. It replaced the old paper arrival card. Airlines check it at boarding and will refuse you without it. Bayard sends the link and instructions before departure.

How many days are enough for Thailand?

Five to six nights covers Bangkok, Pattaya and Coral Island comfortably. Six to seven nights suits a Phuket–Krabi–Phi Phi island trip. Eight to ten days lets you add Chiang Mai and the north. Under five nights, pick one region rather than trying to cover two.

What is the best time to visit Thailand from India?

November to February — dry, cool and the most reliable window for island boat transfers. March to May is hot but cheaper and lines up with Indian school holidays. June to October is monsoon season, with the lowest prices and the greenest landscapes.

Is Thailand good for a family holiday?

Yes. Bangkok–Pattaya–Coral Island is the most family-friendly format: short road transfers, no domestic flights, and a mix of beach, wildlife and shows. Safari World, Nong Nooch and Coral Island all work for mixed-age groups, and Indian food is widely available.

Is Thailand a good honeymoon destination?

Yes, and Phuket–Krabi–Phi Phi is the route to book. Six to seven nights covers beachfront resorts, private island trips and Phang Nga Bay. Expect ₹80,000 to ₹1,00,000 per person for a premium honeymoon package with pool villas and private transfers.

Are there direct flights from India to Thailand?

Yes, from most major metros. Kolkata is the shortest sector at roughly two and a half hours. Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi all have nonstop service to Bangkok, and Phuket has direct service from some cities seasonally.

Which Indian city is cheapest to fly to Thailand from?

Kolkata and Chennai are consistently the cheapest sectors, being the shortest. Delhi and Mumbai are typically the priciest, especially in the December–January peak. If your dates are flexible and your departure city is not, book earlier from the northern metros.

How much cash should I carry to Thailand?

Budget ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 per person in Thai Baht for shopping, tips, street food and local transport on a 5–6 night trip. Cards work in hotels, malls and larger restaurants, but island vendors, markets and longtail boat operators are usually cash-only.

Is vegetarian food easy to find in Thailand?

Yes in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket, which all have Indian restaurants and vegetarian Thai options. It is harder on smaller islands and in Chiang Mai's night markets, where fish sauce and shrimp paste appear in most dishes. Tell us your requirements and we will plan around them.

    Is Thailand cheaper than Bali?

Usually, yes — marginally. Thailand tends to be cheaper on flights from India because there are more nonstop options, and comparable on hotels and food. Bali involves less internal travel since it is a single island, so the total difference on a 6-night trip is often small.

    Is Thailand cheaper than Vietnam?

Vietnam is usually slightly cheaper on land costs — food, hotels and local transport. Thailand generally wins on airfare from India because there are more nonstop options, and needs no domestic flights. On a 6-night trip the all-in difference between the two is typically small.

Can I visit Phuket and Krabi in the same trip?

Yes, easily. They are about two hours apart by road, or you can travel by ferry. No domestic flight is needed. A 6–7 night trip covering Phuket, Krabi and a Phi Phi day trip is one of the most popular Thailand itineraries for Indian couples.

Should I visit Phuket or Koh Samui?

Phuket if you want more to do, more resorts and easy access to Krabi and Phi Phi. Koh Samui if you want somewhere calmer. Season matters too: Samui's heaviest rain falls in October and November, while Phuket is wettest from May to October.

Is Thailand safe for Indian tourists?

Yes. Thailand's tourist areas are well policed and the country handles millions of visitors a year. Normal precautions apply — agree tuk-tuk fares in advance, use hotel safes, and be cautious with jet-ski and scooter rental deposits, which is the most common tourist dispute.

What is included in a Bayard Thailand package?

Hotels, daily breakfast, all airport and inter-city transfers including ferry legs, sightseeing with entry tickets, activity bookings, local guides and on-trip support. International flights are quoted separately unless you ask us to bundle them.

How far in advance should I book a Thailand trip?

Six to eight weeks for most travel dates. Ten to twelve weeks for Christmas, New Year and the April–May Indian school holidays, when both flights and the better beachfront hotels sell out first and fares rise sharply.
